~ Buddha Belly
Bambusa Ventricosa
As the name implies, Buddha Belly is an exotic, large-caned bamboo. Canes grow very tightly together with many lower branches. If you are looking to form an impenetrable barrier or block the view of something tall, plant Buddha Belly. The criss-crossing canes will occasionally form swollen internodes or “waists” if the plant is under stress. Under normal conditions it just grows huge and extremely dense. 45’ tall with 2.3” culms. Clumping bamboos can be planted without fear of them spreading beyond their assigned territory, making them non-invasive.
